Summary
Our advanced pottery classes in London are an enriching way to develop your knowledge and practice under one of our expert tutors alongside an intimate group of potters. Community is at the heart of our vision at Studio Pottery London. Many of the ongoing potters have progressed from our foundation courses.
Students continue refining the essential cylinder before progressing into vases, jugs, spouts and handle-making for mugs, gradually working with larger amounts of clay. Confidence in bowls begins on a smaller scale and steadily grows, leading into saucers and plates – forms often underestimated but requiring real precision and control.
As skills develop, cylindrical forms evolve into closed and rounded shapes, including lidded vessels, tall-necked vases and more complex profiles. Throughout the course, students explore the classic Leach pulled-handle technique alongside alternative handle methods, working towards the ultimate milestone: creating a teapot.
We understand that busy lives can make regular commitments difficult to maintain, which is why our ongoing classes are designed to be flexible. When you purchase a class bundle, you can choose the sessions that suit your schedule, giving you freedom while becoming part of our growing pottery community.
Please note that we cannot accept complete beginners on the wheel. If you have no experience at the wheel, then please book a taster class or private session.
The journey on the wheel often leads to Membership.
