Bringing together vessels, sculptural forms and richly worked surfaces, the exhibition reveals the remarkable breadth and vitality of contemporary British ceramics. It celebrates the beauty and power of the human hand, while emphasising the importance of sharing knowledge, teaching skills and preserving ancient craft traditions for future generations.
Although united by an exceptional understanding of materials and processes, each artist approaches clay from a profoundly individual perspective: from Celia Dowson’s atmospheric porcelain vessels and Katalina Caliendo’s tactile, ecologically informed sculptures to Chloe Monks’ experimental glazes, Frances Priest’s exuberant languages of ornament and Hannah Tounsend’s weathered, painterly forms.
The exhibition reflects Studio Pottery London and QEST’s shared commitment to protecting specialist knowledge, supporting exceptional makers and ensuring that craft continues to evolve through education, experimentation and exchange.
“We are immensely proud to bring these five outstanding artists together at Studio Pottery London. Their work demonstrates that technical mastery and artistic freedom are not opposing forces: one enables the other. Each artist has developed a completely distinctive visual language, yet they are united by curiosity, material intelligence and an unwavering commitment to making.”
Lucy Attwood, Founder and Director of Studio Pottery London
“We are extremely grateful to Studio Pottery London for this special collaboration, offering an opportunity to shine a spotlight on some of the talented ceramicists in the QEST Alumni family, as well as to highlight QEST’s work as a charity investing in the future of craft.”
