Studio Pottery London
a light-filled studio cultivating a community of potters in the heart of London
Studio Pottery London is a light-filled and spacious workshop for all who are attracted to making with clay, from absolute beginners to more experienced potters. We are uniquely located in central London in the heart of Victoria. A place of calm and community, our carefully curated space provides a perfect environment for city-dwellers to come together to learn and create.
Our classroom of 12 wheels ensuring intimate classes. Our members area is carefully designed to give the members premium space. Our resident potter welcomes members and students into his private studio for one-to-one throwing and mentoring sessions.
Together, with the teaching team and technician, we provide excellent support for the studio community. Curated window and vitrine displays of historic and contemporary ceramics inspire our makers and are for sale to visitors.
The community can socialise in the central area with its library, kitchenette and facilities. This space is also for talks and workshops. In the rear of the studio is the kiln and glazing room, monitored by our in-house technician.
“As a new member of Studio Pottery London, I was welcomed and encouraged by all at the start of my ceramics journey (the Studio Team and other members alike) and now a year on it has been a wonderful and enriching experience as I look back at how I have progressed and developed during this time.
The space provides the ideal creative environment to disconnect and immerse yourself in the Art of Pottery, the mix of skills and styles of all creating a melting pot of talent by which to be inspired and driven to develop, all with the reassurance that the Team will always be more than happy to provide any guidance when possible whilst at the same time working behind the scenes to ensure the equipment, firing schedule, development of glazes…. are all in place to ensure a comprehensive and complete studio in which to work.
In all, a truly wonderful space in central London to develop your own pottery style and be part of a supportive and friendly community.” —
“We visited the studio in September for a staff social and could not be happier! It was an extremely fun afternoon for all of us involved and I would definitely recommend it. The staff were lovely and helpful and made the experience that much more enjoyable!” —
“I came to Studio Pottery London for a work-team night out and it was fantastic. A beautiful space with wonderful teachers and I was thrilled with the bowl that I managed to make. It was a brilliant experience – would highly recommend it!” —
“Lovely community of people. Excellent talented artists and teachers. Couldn’t find a better location for pottery in the heart of London.” —
“Studio Pottery London is such a joy. Thanks to good opening hours and a convenient location, it’s easy to hop in even if for a couple of hours after work. The team is friendly and there’s always a chance to chat with someone, get inspired, or on the contrary choose to be fully immersed in the clay work and forget the city for a while.
The membership is not cheap but has been totally worth it in terms of the chance to practice and try new things, in a space near home that offers clays, kiln, glazes and everything at hand.” —
“Had a one-on-one class with Eugene Chung, he is great, patient and explains clearly for a beginner like me, I will definitely go back for more classes (they are quite popular, so book early) Love the space, it’s organised and tidy, close to the station, it’s very convenient.” —
“I booked a private class with Eugene Chung! I would highly recommend Eugene if you are keen to get pottery techniques right. Although it was a one-off session, I found that the class was appropriate for my level and just what I needed to refine my throwing techniques. Eugene is very easygoing which makes the class enjoyable and a nice environment for learning. I had taken some group classes in the past but I would recommend taking this private lesson by Eugene if you’re just starting out to get the techniques correct from the start.
Eugene knows when to help you out when you are stuck during the process and encourages confidence at every step. The studio itself is lovely and has a nice big window which allows natural light in! It is also a few stone’s throws from the Victoria train and bus station. I will definitely book this class again when I’m in London in the future. Can’t recommend it enough!” —
“An outstanding members’ studio and a great place to learn the fundamentals of studio pottery. Being in the heart of London means you connect with enthusiastic hobbyists, and experienced ceramic artists. With specialist guest speakers and live events happening throughout the year. I joined in 2019 as a member, and have benefitted a great deal from the space, top facilities and experienced staff. Now as a teacher at SPL, I can say first-hand that the studio is perfect for beginners and intermediate makers alike.” —
“We had a private class with Gregory and it was just incredible. It’s a beautiful setting in the heart of London, and Gregory was an amazing and kind teacher. It was the perfect introduction to pottery, his instructions were clear and concise, and he also shared a few of his incredible stories too. He is a very talented artist as well as a teacher. Time literally flew and before we knew it our session was drawing to an end. I am completely hooked and will definitely be back for some more. Thank you, guys!” —
