Our introductory session is a brilliant way to get a feel for working with clay on the wheel, a practice which is known as ‘throwing.’ Each participant will have their own wheel and be carefully taught through the process by an expert tutor. Whether you book for yourself or a group of friends, this is a wonderfully social and spirited introduction to the joys of throwing.

You will learn how to wedge – prepare the clay – as well as centre – secure the clay on the wheel – and throw – pulling up the walls of the clay into a cylinder. This is an uplifting, inspiring experience. You will throw multiple pots and can choose one to be glazed and fired, which will be ready to collect within 2-4 weeks.

Launching the start of our exclusive workshop series, we will be hosting a programme of alternative Taster workshops, offering opportunities to learn unique skills in pottery beyond throwing clay on the wheel. Listed below, keep an eye on our schedule for your chance to book onto our special exclusives:

24th April 10am-1pm The Core Ceramics Workshop with Josh Schoeman

A workshop exploring the fundamentals of clay in relation to sculpture, hand building and moulding techniques; you’ll learn how to avoid breakages, meld different clays together and how the nature of a clay can inform your making. Targeted at our community who are, or have an interest in hand building with clay, this workshop will add practical skills to your ‘Maker’s Toolbox.’

We encourage private lessons as both an excellent start for beginners as well as a productive way for experienced potters to develop their practice. These sessions take place within our Studio Pottery London teaching space. If an advanced potter, we can support your handle-pulling and bowl-making for example.

Please note that if you are a beginner, our ethos is such that focus is on tuition. The glazing and firing of vessels will arrive at a later stage of your practice.

If you would like to send a gift card then please book through the link and a confirmation email will be sent for them to select their class of choice. Please note that pottery is a wonderful, social activity and so we suggest that you bring a friend and receive ‘one-on-two’ tuition for you both to learn together.

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions. Note that our cancellation policy is within 72 hours.
